MEMPHIS, Tenn. — More than 30 people were hurt in a crash involving a Greyhound bus on Highway 70 East near Jackson, Tennessee, on Monday night.

The Madison County Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and MedCenter EMS all responded to the crash just before 7 p.m.

The Madison County Fire Department said 27 of the injured were transported to the hospital. There is no word on the injuries or the cause of the wreck.

The fire department had not said where the Greyhound bus originated from, but it was eastbound on 70 when it crashed.

Emergency personnel are asking the community to please avoid the area for the next several hours.
