MARION, Ark. — Terrance A. Washington was convicted of first-degree battery Thursday for causing serious injury to a 3-month-old in his care two years ago.
Washington, 26, of West Memphis, was taking care of the baby on Nov. 24, 2013, while the mother was at work.
When the mother got back, the little boy was unresponsive and had to be taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
An investigation showed the baby had suffered abusive head trauma, and investigators determined the injury happened while Washington was watching him.
The baby recovered but has deficits in language and motor skill abilities as a result of the injuries.
Washington was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
