MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis firefighter Perry Williams has been relieved of duty with pay while he is investigated for a shooting that happened Saturday night, according to a spokesman for the City of Memphis.

Williams has been with the Memphis Fire Department for 20 years.

Police said Williams opened fire after arguing with another driver, Darren Wilkins. Williams allegedly cut Wilkins off, and the two got into a heated argument when at a red light.

“That’s when he said ‘I’ll do you in front of your whole family,'” said Wilkins’ uncle, James Isaac, who was driving behind them. “He let the shots off. He whipped around and pointed the gun. I told my kids, ‘y’all lay down!'”

Isaac said Williams fired about four shots.

Luckily, no one was too hurt.

Wilkins was only grazed by a bullet, and his wife and kids, who were also in the car, were not hit.

Williams was arrested and appeared in court Monday on aggravated assault charges.

He is out on a $100,000 bond and will next go to court November 10.
