MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was taken to the hospital after his home caught fire just after midnight in North Memphis, the fire department says.

Fire crews say they were called to the home fire in the 700 block of Pearce Street around 12:22 a.m. They say the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical malfunction in the front bedroom.

A man was found and taken to the Regional One Burn Center for smoke inhalation, but the fire department says he is in stable condition. No firefighters were injured.
