Back to school events to give away backpacks, supplies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Mid-South is gearing up for students to go back to school with many backpack and school supply giveaways at fairs and events.

Listed below are different events and fairs giving away backpacks and school supplies.

July 26

Senator London Lamar’s Back-to-School event:

7th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway & Community Festival, July 26 at Tiger Lane – 335 S. Hollywood St., Memphis, TN 38104 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Providing free backpacks and school supplies, along with food, music, entertainment, and valuable community resources.

Brown Baptist Church/ Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.:

Back to School Summit, July 27 at Brown Baptist Church Main Campus 980 Stateline Rd E – Southaven, MS 8671| 9 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Students must register and attend the summit to receive a backpack.

DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office backpack giveaway:

Backpack Giveaway DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office at 3091 Industrial Dr. W., Hemando, MS 38632 | 2 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Students must register and attend the giveaway to receive a backpack.

Centenary United Methodist Church Annual Health Fair & Backpack Event event:

Annual Health Fair & Backpack Event to Support Students at Centenary United Methodist Church, 584 McLemore, Memphis, TN 38106 | 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Backpack giveaways, healthy screenings, snacks, blood pressures, body composition, nutrition assessments, and mindful stress reduction

County Commissioner Miska Clay Bibbs’ Back 2 School Food Truck Festival

Annual Back 2 School Food Truck Festival at Hickory Hill Community Center, 3910 Ridgeway Rd., Memphis, TN 38115 | 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Free school supplies and other essentials will be distributed to children in need (children must be present to receive supplies).

Camkuy Group’s 2nd Annual Back-to-School Bash

Back 2 School Bash at Middle College High School, 750 East Parkway South,| 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Free school supplies, haircuts, and food.

Memphis Verizon Wireless Stores’ backpack giveaway

August 2

Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church Back-to-School event

Back 2 School Event at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, 70 N. Bellevue, Memphis, TN 38104 | 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Free immunizations and records, at-home HIV self-test kits, child car safety seats (while supplies last), children’s photo IDs, and children’s books.
Other giveaways include free food, backpacks, school supplies, and more.
