MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shots were reported fired at an apartment complex in Whitehaven late Thursday night.
Officers say they responded to a shooting call at the Creekside Meadow Apartments on Briarpark Drive off Winchester Road just after 10 p.m.
At this time, it is unclear who fired the shots or if anyone was injured as a result of it.
WREG crews are working to gather more information and will provide updates as they become available.
Deadly shootings within the past couple of weeks have the police chief and city mayor responding.
“It’s been a rough couple of weeks, for our city, we’ve experienced heartbreak and violence, and I know that the pain of these tragedies is being felt by all of us,” said Cheif CJ Davis.
“We also want to acknowledge that the past two weeks have been pretty tough and we’ve seen some high-profile incidents,” said Mayor Paul Young.
City leaders spoke out during a grand opening ceremony of a new command center downtown on Thursday. The police department’s new center hopes to both reduce and prevent crime.
On Friday, Mayor Young and Chief Davis plan to address the recent incidents of gun violence and offer a community-wide approach to ending it.
