I don’t necessarily usually use the term Black Art. Because when it comes to a plumber, he’s just a plumber, a dentist, is a dentist. If your work identifies with Black culture, we are talking about something different. Culture is a feeling. I think once you experience the space, there is a feeling and energy in the room. What would it look like to have this gallery store, slash tattoo studio, like a third space that people can thrive in. No matter what medium you use, you can come through and use the space as if it’s your own.
I’ve been on this whole wave of not just putting the spotlight on me but putting the spotlight on the people that I’m a fan of. I think that’s a big thing we have to continue to push forward and that’s how we continue to build community.
Jamond Bullock, Owner of Artifacts Gallery
We have to be intentional of wanting to see the other person do well. That’s like the recipe of Black Wallstreet. The foundation of it was how these people got together and taught each other. It’s important.
Artifacts Gallery is a 3rd space for creatives to thrive created by artist and curator @Alivepaint to showcase artistic abilities of all mediums.
