MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is in custody after a shooting and hours-long barricade situation in southeast Shelby County.
SCSO deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving a shooting with injuries shortly before noon in the 6600 block of Silver Oak Cove.
One adult male victim was shot and was transported to Regional One in non-critical condition.
An adult male, armed with a handgun, has barricaded himself inside a residence with two additional family members.
SCSO SWAT and negotiators arrived on the scene. Several homes nearby were evacuated.
A negotiator repeatedly urged the armed suspect to lay his weapon down and surrender.
“We want to help you, we’re not here to hurt you. Help me to help you,” the negotiator said. “Drop the gun and come out with your hands up. Please put the gun down.”
At around 4 p.m. Saturday, SCSO announced that the suspect surrendered peacefully from the house and was taken into custody. Both family members inside the home were found unharmed.
The name of the suspect has not been released nor have any charges. SCSO says the incident is still under investigation.
