UPDATE: Memphis Police say the male victim has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Police shut down the westbound lanes of traffic on I-240 at Poplar Avenue after a man was shot just after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

MPD has not released any details about the shooting but said the man was transported to the Regional One Medical Center in critical condition.

Officers can be seen walking along the interstate with flashlights, looking for evidence on the ground.
